Entering the 5th year of the National Million Solar Rooftop Initiative (GNSSA), all efforts are continuously being made by the government, associations, private sector, investors, and all components of society to accelerate the implementation of the new renewable energy mix through the installation of solar rooftop systems all over Indonesia in various sectors, one of which is the commercial and industrial sectors. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources through the Directorate-General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation noted that the commercial and industrial sectors contributed to the increase in installed capacity from 1.52 MW in 2018 to 65.87 MW in July 2022.

The increasingly strong market demands for green products and manufacture encourages businesses to switch to environmentally friendly technologies in order to uphold their existence in the global market. Solar rooftop is considered a strategic choice because of its relatively fast installation time, does not require a large area of land, and the availability of solar energy resources that are evenly distributed throughout Indonesia.

Andriah Feby Misna, Director of New Renewable Energy of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said at the fifth event of GNSSA: Realization and Optimization of Solar Rooftop Potential organized by PT Xurya Daya Indonesia, "The industrial and business sectors are potential sectors to accelerate renewable energy penetration, especially now global market competition has shifted to green energy products that are more environmentally friendly. The government, through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, is ready to support the industrial and commercial sectors to start utilizing renewable energy, one of which is through the installation of Solar Rooftop System.”

In line with the government's efforts to accelerate the development of new & renewable energy in Indonesia, Chairman of the Indonesian Solar Energy Association (AESI), Fabby Tumiwa stated, "In line with the efforts to achieve the goal of net zero emission and increasing public awareness about sustainability issues, the use of renewable energy must be considered. The utilization of solar energy, especially solar rooftop systems, is the fastest and cheapest way to be adopted by the industrial sector. We will certainly continue to support various policies that favor the development of new and renewable energy so that the target of 23% renewable energy mix by 2025 can be realized in a more planned and systematic way.”

Not only global companies are starting to pay attention to the use of solar electricity for their operations, but local companies from various types of business backgrounds are also increasingly starting to develop a green industry. As has been done by Xurya customers in using energy from Solar Rooftop System in their operational activities.

Eka Himawan, Managing Director of Xurya said, “Collaboration and synergies from various parties need to be carried out to accelerate the implementation of solar rooftop systems for industrial and commercial buildings. We as a developer of solar rooftop system projects have provided installation without any investment, so that the commercial and industrial sectors do not need to spend any upfront cost to switch to clean energy.”

In commemoration of the 5th National Million Solar Rooftop Initiative (GNSSA), several business players in the commercial and industrial sectors signed their commitment for this movement as a form of their support to clean energy use, as was done by PT Avia Avian Tbk, PT Agung Podomoro Land Tbk, PT Alkindo Mitra Raya, PT Arwana Citramulia Tbk, PT Bumimulia Indah Lestari, PT Bungasari Flour Mills Indonesia, PT Chemco Harapan Nusantara, PT East West Seed Indonesia (EWINDO), PT Frina Lestari Nusantara, PT Heinz ABC Indonesia, PT Jaya Abadi Corak Biscuit , PT Pan Brothers Tbk, PT Mukti Panel Industri, PT Sariguna Primatirta Tbk, PT Serena Indopangan Industri, PT Suryacipta Swadaya, PT Tata Metal Lestari, PT Trigunung Padutama, PT Tansri Gani, PT Uni-Charm Indonesia Tbk, PT.
